Google Flights has an extension called Flight Fare Compare. You can use it to see the cost of flights from Google Flights, Momondo, Skyscanner and Kyak.com.
Those 4 sites are some of the best when it comes to comparing the prices of flights. So, having them all in the same place can make it convenient when doing searches for the best flight deals.
You can click on the following link to access Flight Fare Compare. Once you are on the page click add to Chrome.
After you have added it to Chrome, you can go to Google Flights and do a search. I did a search from Akron to Miami.
Once you click on Search, Google Flights will do a search and you will see their results. The lowest fare to the Miami area is $80 round trip. In the upper right corner, you should see a blue box. In the box it will say “converting to Momondo.com”
To see the results for Momondo click the compare button. A new tab should open up with the results for Momondo.
As you can see the lowest fare found on Momondo is for $52 round trip.
To switch over to Kayak.com and Skyscanner searches. You need to click on the puzzle piece up by the search bar.
Next, a box will open up and you will click on Flight Fare Compare.
A new box will open up like what is shown below. You can click on the Momondo tab to shut it off and click on the Kayak and Skyscanner tabs to turn them on.
You can go back to Google Flights and do another search with the same destinations and dates. The blue box in the upper right hand corner will appear again. This time in the box it will say converting to Kayak.com and Skyscanner.
You can click the “Compare” button. Two new tabs will open up with one being a Kayak.com tab and the other a Skyscanner tab.
As you can see, the lowest price for Kayak is $52.
The lowest price for Skyscanner is $51.
So, you can see that the lowest fare was from Skyscanner for $51 round trip. You can decide which way that you want to go once you have all the information.
Final Thoughts
I am all about giving people knowledge so that they can have the tools that they need to find the best deals. The extension is just another tool at your disposal that you can use.
A quick side note to keep in mind is that Southwest is never included in any kind of search when looking for flights. You will need to go directly to their site to see the cost of their tickets.
